Slightly Disappointed Fan December 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a fan of Richelle Mead, I've read all her books, and just finished Succubus Dreams. I have to say, I was more than a little bit disappointed at this one.
Unlike the first two, there was much more sex in this, and I guess when it's relevant I don't care, but here it was just thrown in everywhere, just like every other raunchy supernatural adult series.
However I did enjoy the flashbacks to Georgina's past and her relationship with Andrew. The ending was a doozy, too, and Mead's storytelling is as witty and engaging as ever.
I'm going to continue reading Mead's books and just hope that this one was strange and uncharacteristic and not the beginning of a new style.
Georgina Kincaid Series, Great Books December 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this series, in Succubus Dreams we find Georgina still with Seth and hard at work on keeping her relationship with him going. They can't have sex, that's a given, but it seems to get harder even spending time together. Georgina is a succubus and if they were to have sex, Georgina might kill him. However, Seth is busy trying to finish his latest book and Georgina is assigned to mentor a new Succubus that can't seem to do anything right. To top this off, Georgina has been having dreams at night and when she wakes in the morning all of her energy has been sucked from her by someone or something. A band of Angels is in town and asked her if they can leave a mortal man at her apt for a while, she says okay, she has no idea what they are looking for. She continues on with her life, trying to feed from a man and then she has the dream and wakes up drained again. In the meantime, Seth seems to be acting more and more distance from her. Spoiler ahead here - Do not read if you haven't read the book. Georgina and Seth have a big fight and he wants the two of them to sleep together, she tells him no, he leaves her apartment and goes to her car. She has a sense after that, that things are different. She is taking her friend Maddie to the airport and her friend tells her that she slept with Seth, I felt like that was coming in the story, but you could have punched me in the stomach along with Georgina, it made me sick. How could Seth do that to her? Georgina took Maddie to the airport and dropped her off, the next day, Seth came to pick Georgina up for dinner with his family and the entire thing came up, he broke up with Georgina. Seth told her he doesn't have flings and he likes Maddie. One week later at a party, Georgina was there and Seth was there with Maddie and they looked happy, how could he rub his new relationship in her face like that? I am so disappointed in Seth? I thought better of him.
So Very Very Good December 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I get depressed because one book in a series is over and the next one hasn't been released yet I know I have found a winner. This book was so good, and had such a compelling ending, that I feel like I'm in physical pain having to wait for the next novel in the Georgina Kincaid books. I love that Richelle Mead decided to introduce so many new and interesting characters throughout this installment. The plot takes twists and turns that surprise the reader while still remaining believable and true to the characters. The entire reading experience is simply perfect. I could hardly put the book down. How wonderful is it to find such a perfect mix of sci-fi, fantasy and romance?
Fast easy read November 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had only read her newest book, which I enjoyed. I ordered the entire series and finished it in one weekend.
Fantastic!! November 18, 2008 This book was fantastic! It was fast paced and not at all predictable. I am a little sad about the ending, but I can't wait to see what is next for Georgina.
