Antec Gamer PC Case January 6, 2009 Love the big fan on top and the convenient buttons. This case is the best! Antec Nine Hundred Steel ATX Ultimate Gamer PC Case (Black)
Best case out there. January 6, 2009 This case has to be one of the best bang-for-your-buck cases made today. There is a ton of room inside and plenty of cool air passing through with the 4 massive fans goin. It's extremely durable and has an appearance that let's people an LANs know you mean business.
This is an awesome case, very sturdy and stands out of the crowd December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a marvelous case. It is tall and big. Cooling is great. It comes with 3 120mm speed-adjustable fans and one big 200mm upper fan who's speed is also adjustable. Antec has trully focused on advanced cooling with this case. Putting a big fan at the top of the case is a big plus because hot air raises and cool air goes down.( That's why they put airconditioners at the top of a room, lol) So, with the two fans in front blowing in and 2 others blowing out makes this case a very cool one (literately). The front panel is very well positioned and the top tray is also great. The case is made of steel and everything is very sturdy. If you touch the case it makes you and others feel like you have a very expensive computer even if you have an old pentium III in it!
If your power supply has a lot of cables it could be a bit anoying when repositioning the wires around the case but it doesn't keep you from fully customizing your system.
For those that complain that this case doesn't come with a removable motherboard tray. Really.. Even though you're a super costumization geek, you really won't be changing your motherboard every week.
If you're planning to buy a case with good cooling, look no further. The Antec Nine Hundred is a great investment.
Nice case, needs better cable management options December 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pros: - Big enough to realistically hold 4 internal drives and 3 external drives while running a CrossFire/SLI setup.
- Nice aesthetic design, the top shelf and ports work well if you keep your box on the floor.
- Very good airflow with the mesh front, side and top.
- Nice, consistent blue LED lighting from the 3 included 120mm fans. I removed the plastic holder meant for another fan in the side window as it would just be overkill... c'mon, who really needs FOUR 120mm fans and a 200mm fan in a mid-size case? Whaddya want to do, tilt it over and vacuum the floor?
Cons: Cable management options need improving. With a side window I wanted my case to be as clean on the inside as possible. I managed to get the majority of my power supply cables shoved through the small hold left when the power supply retention bracket was punched out and then ran them across the motherboard tray to reach the two cable holes cut towards the front of the case (be sure you have at least a 24" ATX power cable if you want to try this - my Corsair CMPSU-750TX cable was JUST BARELY long enough)... a third cable hole cut somewhere near the power supply and a fourth one at the top of the motherboard would have made life a LOT easier.
There is no removable motherboard tray.
Would it kill Antec to paint the inside? I painted mine black before installing everything... it didn't take too long but having a plain gray interior with a case window it just BORING.
Other thoughts: Taking the case apart for painting is pretty simple with the exception of the top cover that contains the 200mm fan. It has six attachment points, 4 of which are easy to reach but two of which are covered by the riveted drive bays in the front. Additionally a ground wire coming from the top ports/buttons is attached to a screw in the top of the case. Fiddling with it about 10 minutes allowed me to remove it but go easy as the front attachment clips can be sheared off if you're not careful.
Hard to replace top mounted fan. November 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this case over a year ago much to the envy of my room mate at the time. I have had really no issues with this case, my only concern long-term will be if the top mounted fan ever goes it will be a bit of a challenge to disassemble the case to replace it. Antec needs to address this I feel and use standard screws as with older cases.
For those that do own this case another quick tip for reducing dust going in through the front, scotch-brit pads. I found the standard sizes from local grocery stores fits nicely in the front since the sides are raised up. As dust builds up it collects on the scotch-brit pads instead of going into the case. Simple remove, rinse and replace. I plan on using the same method for the side, currently no fan but lots of dust build up. This prevents me from having to open the case as often and clean my Zalman CPU fan which builds up dust quite quickly.
