Epson Artisan 700 January 8, 2009 I really like the printer's sleek style. It looks great in my home office and fits nicely. It's not too bulky or heavy, so I can move it easily if needed. I haven't figured out how to print photos very well, but hopefully this is due to my lack of knowledge about the print settings and how to set up the various paper trays. This is my first printer, so I am still learning! As for simple documents, the printer is very fast and the prints come out crisp and clean. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would definitely recommend the Epson Artisan 700 to any Photoshop, iPhoto, or InDesign user or simple artistic person on a Mac/PC computer.
I love this printer! January 7, 2009 For the last 2 years, I have been reviewing various photo printers. Ones that only print photos and other that are all in ones. Also, I wanted to try mutiple color cartridges because of the great expense of the standard black or color cartridges. I had a HP all in one and the cost of the cartridges had reached the cost of a printer. I was almost to the point of buying two units. One that scanned, printed text, etc and one to print photos. Then I received an email from Epson in December and became acquainted with the Artisan models. I almost could not believe that this printer is wireless, scans, prints photos, edits, and restores photos without a computer, accepts memory cards, prints on CD's and has multiple color cartridges, plus the price is not prohibitive. The list of functions is almost endless.
I checked the Amazon.com price and it was $149.99 plus free shipping and I ordered it. I am a retired person in my 70's and I installed this printer in a flash. I have it upstairs but our computer downstairs was able to access it immediatly. I love the design of this printer as the paper and photo paper compartment is in the base which means that no dust or (in my case cat and dogs hairs) can reach it.
I restored old photos and created a photo albumn for my grandchildren of their ancestors which was a great hit at christmas. The display on the 700 is very good and I did all the work without once turning on the computer. I have not yet tested all of the components but I have every confidence that I will love it even more.
I record piano solos from my digital piano onto CD's for my family and now I can put photo labels on them. I also record Audio CD's and they can also be labeled.
I know that the price varies from time to time. The day after I purchased mine the price changed but a couple of weeks later it lowered again and my son who is a IT officer in a bank purchased it for himself.
Hope this helps. Pattie Sue Blankenship
EPSON Artisan 700 All-in-One Printer December 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After MUCH research to try and find a good all-in-one that also does pictures, I settled on the Epson Artisan 700. BIG MISTAKE!!! I received the printer and went through the setup process and was confronted with these issues:
1. What the ads don't tell you is that the ink provided with your printer is just about all used up just to "charge" the print head.
2. If your print head needs cleaning (which mine supposedly did on a new printer), you must have enough ink left in your cartridges or it will not work. Epson wants you to run the head cleaning process a minimum of four times before calling for help.
3. You will almost immediately have to purchase more ink cartridges to print anything or to clean the head to the tune of $77 for a full set (I paid $149 for the whole printer!) You do the math.
After MANY attempts at cleaning the head, no luck. Printer #1 back to the company (THAT part worked well at least).
Second printer arrived and THE SAME THING HAPPENED!! It now wants me to fork over another $77 for ink. I don't think so...printer #2 is now going back to Epson. This all occurred within a week.
Bottom line--I would not recommend this printer to anyone! I went out and bought a Canon MP620 (on sale at Best Buy or Circuit City for $99) and this thing runs like a champ! Setup = easy! Pictures = beautiful! Highly recommend a Canon...
Eats ink like it's going out of style December 30, 2008 I love everything about this printer except that it goes through ink like an SUV goes through gas. I've barely printed a handful of pages and it's already low. The cartridges look smaller to me than the ones I used for years with my Epson Stylus Photo printer. This is clearly Epson's way of robbing us blind. I am considering purchasing a different brand of printer that will at least take me out to dinner before it takes advantage of me. Seriously, don't get this printer unless you want to sink HUNDREDS of dollars into ink for the rest of the time you have it. I'll never purchase and Epson printer again.
