4 out of 5 stars What I needed and wanted (mostly)   January 7, 2009
This printer is smaller, has more functions, and cost much less than the HP all-in-one it replaced. The HP worked fine, but I wanted/needed automatic duplex printing and dreamed of a smaller unit that would take up less space in my home office. This all-in-one fit the bill. Setup (wireless) was easy and I can print from either my desktop or laptop without any problem.

The only short-coming I have found thus far is 2-sided copying. It's simple to copy a stack of single pages into a 2-sided document half the size. It's not simple to take a 2-sided document of multiple pages and make an exact copy. Oh well, I can't expect a machine this size and this price to do everything.

For the size and price, this was a great buy.

4 out of 5 stars Good networked features   December 29, 2008
Pro:
This is the best value given it supports network scan, printing, fax and duplex. The size is smaller than other competitors.

Con:
Poor scan quality

5 out of 5 stars Cannon MF4270DN Printer   December 16, 2008
Order arrived the next day, even on free shipping. I only use it for copying and printing. Prints very fast. Love the duplex print and copy feature. Copying has an easy to use enlarge or shrink control. As other reviewers have said, you have to type in your IP address manually, but not a problem.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   December 6, 2008
We run a small business and were previously using separate fax, printer and scanner and utilizing a print server which recently became our worst nightmare. Therefore the network ready feature of this printer was definitely a selling point. The setup was ridiculously easy including setting up all 7 computers to use it over the network. The printer works wonderfully and its features are simple and easy to use. The scanner performed beautifully and the faxes and copies were clear and easy to read. We would definitely recommend this printer to anyone!

5 out of 5 stars Fast printer, scanning works - after call to tech support   November 26, 2008

This printer replaces a 4 year old Brother MFC that worked great but suddently died (and needs $150 to fix it). I got this printer for $199 from a local computer super store. I too had initial problems with scanning and after calling tech support (who are fantastic, quick to answer the phone, and speak English), I got it running on my network and installed the scanning software.

Other reviewers had problems w/scanning. I did too at first but after a call to tech support, it works fine. The problem with the scanning was due to the install CD only installing the driver but not the included OmniPage software. To get to that, you have to manually view the contents of the CD and go to the directory OmniPage and install it yourself (setup.exe). The included scanning software is ScanSoft OmniPage SE 4.2.

My initial network setup resulted in intermittent printing (it'd work for a few days then stop) and so the tech guy had me manually enter the IP address, subnet mask and disable DHCP.

It all works great now, it's fast printer and much more energy efficient than my other one. It's a great buy for the money - so much better than inkjets (and those $$ cartridges that only print well the first few times).
